Harrington plays better golf than before

Harrington took a measure toward ending 17 months and 37 tournaments without a victory when he made 10 birdies, such as a 75-footer late in their round, to create a three-shot lead among the early starters at Innisbrook.

"I play better about the Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday than I really do for the Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday," Harrington said. "I'm attempting to stay patient. I realize my game is a useful one. One of the most difficult things is to wait with confidence. I'm feeling like everything is willing to happen. Obviously, today it showed the possible. Today is a peak. But we'll wait and discover how are you affected on the next quantity of weeks."

Which has a 15-foot birdie callaway ft-iz driver putt for the 18th - how could it not use just how his day was going? - he broke by one shot the record with the esteemed Copperhead Course at Innisbrook that were held by Mark Calcavecchia in 2007 and Jeff Sluman in 2004.

Harrington's previous best was a 62 3 times, recently with the 2009 Portugal Masters. Younger crowd had a 61 in the Nedbank Challenge in 2001, an unofficial event. It had not been acknowledged as a course record as a result of preferred lies.

Not simply was Harrington three shots much better than someone else, it had been nearly 8.7 shots much better than the course average.

Will Claxton birdied the 18th for a 64, a score that would have put him atop the leaderboard at Innisbrook the final seven years. John Senden, coming off a 65 within the final round at Doral, is at a sizable group at 66 that included William McGirt and 51-year-old Kenny Perry, building a rare appearance for the PGA Tour.

Doral winner Justin Rose and Luke Donald were Mizuno MX-1000 irons at 67, while defending champion Gary Woodland opened with a 68.

Did anyone see a 61 at Innisbrook?

"I did. I watched it," said Geoff Ogilvy, who played alongside Harrington. "On the 1st tee, I did not see 61. But as soon as you notice done ... the sole really, completely unreasonable birdie was for the 17th. There were never any stress."

That birdie putt around the 17th was from 75 feet, and Harrington said hello looked best for the last 15 feet.

But if there was one putt that reminded him how everything was falling his way, it absolutely was the 6-foot birdie for the 16th, atop a crown so that Harrington wasn't sure which way it turned out planning to break. He guessed right.

"You're really guessing from which way it will go, but on the day, it's going the correct way," he was quoted discount golf clubs saying. "I guarantee you there will be a lot of players using a frustrating day, telling you they hit it where by they wanted plus it missed."

Having a wedge into 15 feet for the last hole, he'd without doubt.
